2006 Tribeca Underground Film Festival: May 2-7

By Mike Everleth ⋅ April 7, 2006

Just as an entire industry of scrappy little film festivals runs during the Sundance Film Festival every year, the Tribeca Underground Film Festival will be running at the same time as the major, mainstream Tribeca Film Festival. (And actually I think the NYUFF was originally set up to run just before the fancy-pants New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center, which it still does today.)

TUFF hasn’t posted it’s lineup yet, and since its deadline was just a little over a week ago, it probably won’t be awhile until they do. It also seems to be a “shorts only” festival. Their submission page says all works have to be under 30 minutes.

All screenings will be at the swanky Soho House and the Park Avenue Screening Room. I was never at either place when I lived in NYC.

Final, bonus trivia lesson for the day: Tribeca is short for “Triangle Below Canal” for anybody who was still wondering…
