Take a tour of some of the most devastated places on the planet where families are torn apart by war and other bloody conflicts.

First, David Martinez presents Songs to Enemies & Deserts, a collection of images and sounds that he picked up while traveling through ruined Darfuri villages. Martinez explores rebel history in the region as well as presents an insightful analysis of the conflict in broad regional, continental and global terms.

Next, Gini Reticker will screen Pray the Devil Back to Hell, which chronicles the plight of Liberian women during their country’s civil war and their courageous fight to find a way to end the devastation, which they eventually did.

Lastly, Sahar Al-Sawaf presents the San Francisco premiere of her animated film about her Iraqi refugee family, Um Abdullah.
