Kickstarter: San Francisco Cinematheque’s Crossroads Festival
The San Francisco Cinematheque is gearing up for their 3rd annual Crossroads Moving Image Arts Festival, which will run May 18-20 at the Victoria Theater. The fest will screen “recent and rediscovered avant-garde and experimental works” and they’re raising funds via Kickstarter to help pay for filmmaker travel, venue rental, projectionists’ salaries, print rentals, catalogue printing and other expenses.
If you want to help out this impressive and important event, then please visit their Kickstarter page. They are providing some pretty groovy rewards, too, such as copies of the book Big As Life: An American History of 8mm Films edited by Albert Kilchesty, DVD box sets of the historic Treasures IV avant-garde film collection, and, of course, tickets to the festival itself.
Two artists already set to appear and screen work at the event are filmmaker Laida Lertxundi, while media artist Greg Pope will be traveling all the way from Oslo to do some projector performance pieces. More than 30 national and international artists are expected to have work during this three-day event.
