Get Thrashed In San Antonio

By Mike Everleth ⋅ October 23, 2007

The San Antonio Underground Film Festival is having a fundraiser this Thursday Oct. 25 at 8:30 p.m. No, they’re not raising money for the fest itself. The event is to help out SAUFF volunteer worker Greg Crone, whose daughter Tiffany B. Hannsz is suffering from an inoperable brain tumor. Please, this is a good event to go to if you’re in the San Antonio area and not just for the film they’re screening.

And what film is that? This will be an encore performance of Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal, directed by Rick Ernst. The film was the Grand Prize Winner of this year’s SAUFF and it’s a documentary history of the most extreme version of heavy metal, with performances and interviews with Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and more. Ernst is a former producer of MTV shows like Headbangers Ball and 120 Minutes (I used to never miss 120 Minutes).

The movie will be screening at Slab Cinema at La Tuna, 100 Probandt at Cevallos in San Antonio. You can click the Slab link there for more info. And here’s the movie trailer:
