Another semi-underground film festival that always shows an eclectic mix of films is Cucalorus. The 12th edition of the fest will run Nov. 8-11 in Wilmington, NC and they’re looking for entries now. You can download the entry form here (in handy .txt format. *whew* no .pdf).

You can view last year’s immense lineup on this page, which included films by the always entertaining Bryan Boyce, animator supreme Bill Plympton, legendary German director Volker Schlondorff and the directorial debut of Joe Morton (one of my favorite actors). Lots of interesting films, so check it out.

And finally, since everybody asks, a “cucalorus” is a doodad you stick over a movie light so you get a shimmery effect on camera.
