Crowdfunding: 2011 Black Rock Film Festival

The second annual Black Rock Film Festival, which will take place during the Burning Man festivities in the Nevada desert, is raising funds via the crowdfunding website IndieGoGo.

This year, the festival is teaming up with the Engine Theater to bring a unique screening experience to the great outdoors. The Engine is a 1,000 pound light and steel sculpture that kinetically supports a moveable 17-foot movie screen. Hey, you try to move a 1,000 pound movie screen out into the desert. It ain’t easy! So, that’s why the fest has turned to IndieGoGo to find support.

Those who donate can choose from rewards including public thanks screened before the films, photos of the Engine Theater in action, reserved festival seating, posters, bacon (yes, bacon), a personal Boston screening at a later date and more.

Also, if you still want to get your short film into the fest, the Call for Entries is still open until the end of July.
