As part of Chicago Filmmakers’ Summer Fun! series of movies for the whole family to be enjoyed in the great outdoors, Born in Chicago chronicles the rise of the “blues-rock explosion” when a bunch of eager white teenagers sought to learn the blues from the masters themselves. This upbeat, inspirational documentary is directed by John Anderson and will screen outdoors at Buttercup Park.

Born In Chicago is the untold history of the Chicago blues evolution of the early sixties. Featuring the stories of of white middle-class aspiring musicians who cut their teeth in the city’s tough blues neighborhoods, were taken under the wing of the Chicago greats, and went on to spark the “blues-rock explosion.” Featuring blues masters Marshall Chess, Elvin Bishop, Michael Bloomfield, Eric Burdon, Paul Butterfield, Bob Dylan, Barry Goldberg, Nick Gravenites, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Sam Lay, Harvey Mandel, Steve Miller, Charlie Musselwhite, Mark Naftalin, Keith Richards, Jim Schwall, Corky Siegel, Hubert Sumlin and Jack White.
