2009 Los Angeles As A Character: Official Lineup

Once again, the City of Angels goes under the cultural microscope for the second annual Los Angeles as a Character short film event, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 8:00 p.m. at the Echo Park Film Center.
The screening is the brainchild of L.A. filmmaker Charles Doran, who has collected 10 short films that feature the city of L.A. in a unique way. The films are a mixture of documentary, fictional narrative and experimental styles, including Doran’s own short film Ennui, which was reviewed on the Underground Film Journal a few years ago.
I personally attended the inaugural event last year and thought it was a really fun experience with Doran really picking some great, memorable pieces. You can read my reviews of last year’s films here. I wasn’t sure at the time if the event would continue, so it’s really nice to see Doran picking it up for another go around.
The full list of films that will be screening is below. Like last year, with the exception of Doran, I’m not familiar with the work of these filmmakers. But, I’m very excited to become acquainted with them:
