2009 Sydney Underground Film Festival: Call For Entries

By Mike Everleth ⋅ February 23, 2009

The Sydney Underground Film Festival is ready to raise hell Down Under for its third year on Sept. 10-13. It’s a young festival for sure, but it’s been an impressive one right out of the gate due to perhaps it being founded by a filmmaker, director Stefan Popescu.

It’s the little fest that’s a good compliment to the two powerhouses of the Australian underground festivals, the Melbourne Underground and the Revelation Perth International. But SUFF is a great four-day affair stuffed to the gills with outrageous short films and wild features. Last year’s lineup was extremely impressive.

The submission deadline breakdown is an extensive one and once again they’re offering their $5 off “Rejection Letter” special deal. Just include a letter from another festival your film has been rejected from and take five bucks off of your entry fee. Otherwise, the breakdown is as follows:

Earlybird Deadline:
April 24
Features: $40
Shorts: $30
Student: $25

Regular Deadline:
May 29
Feature: $45
Shorts: $35
Student: $30

Late Deadline:
June 12
Feature: $55
Shorts: $45
Student: $35

For more info, including payment options, please visit the official SUFF website.

And check out the Underground Film Journal’s list of film festivals for more great underground fests to submit to.
