2009 Boston Underground Film Festival: Call For Entries

By Mike Everleth ⋅ June 22, 2008

That’s right, it’s not too early to begin thinking about the 2009 film festival season. The first one usually out of the gates looking for entries is the Boston Underground Film Festival and this year is no exception. While the festival won’t run until the last weekend of next March, you can still send your films in already and the first early deadline is only about a month and a half away:

Early Deadline:
August 1

Regular Deadline:
October 31

Late Deadline:
December 5

BUFF has also officially passed the decade mark, a significant milestone for any festival. Next year will be their 11th edition and they’ve grown into one of the top underground fests in the country. It’s always exciting to see what they’ll be screening each year. If you’re not familiar with the fest, here’s what they’re looking for:

The festival seeks the alternative, the confrontational, the political and the controversial. BUFF seeks films that celebrate alternative visions and sounds, offering a platform that encourages new ideas and work and pushes the envelope in style and content.

Plus, check out last year’s lineup to get a sense of what they’re all about. BUFF is also a competition festival, giving out prizes and awards to several films. Here’s last year’s winners.

The official BUFF site is currently undergoing a makeover as of this posting, so there’s not much to look at there right now. But go there for more info, or submit via their Without a Box page.
