Waylon Bacon Needs “Help”

Director Waylon Bacon is hard at work on a new short film, Help Wanted, and he’s keeping a new blog about its production. So far, there’s just two entries (here and here), but it’s pretty interesting reading so far. The image to the left is of Page One of Bacon’s storyboards that I ripped from his first blog entry. Click through to read a couple more scenes.
I previously raved about Bacon’s earlier shorts in this post and, if you visit his website, you can watch a few more of his films as well as peruse some of his paintings. Bacon’s work is usually sick, twisted affairs and Help Wanted tells the touching story of a man getting his first job, which is to go out and kill people, then clean the bodies up to ship them to … somewhere. Great premise.
Bacon is also producing this new project with money he won from a “MasterMinds” grant awarded to him by the S.F. Weekly earlier this year. Glad to see a serious news publication recognize Bacon’s filmmaking genius. I think it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the world recognizes it, too.
