The New Cinephilia: Part II (The Revenge)

By Mike Everleth ⋅ May 28, 2011

Mike Everleth, editor of the Underground Film Journal, has his second essay up on the Project: New Cinephilia website, hosted by this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival. The essay is entitled “Slow! Cinephiles Writing!,” which refers to the importance of substantial, serious critical film analysis to exist on the web alongside cheap, quick movie industry updates.

This is Mike’s last contribution to this online roundtable project, although there are still two more essays to be published by other participants. While you can certainly just read Mike’s thoughts, this has been a fantastic discussion instigated by the festival that should be read in its entirety, which you can do here.

Project: New Cinephilia is a collection of essays on modern film writing and how it’s been affected by the Internet. The essays and roundtable discussion are being curated by the Edinburgh International Film Festival, which will be held on June 15-26.
