’80s retro filmmaker Jon Clark unleashes his latest 30-minute epic, Spectrum Hunter, during “Night School 2,” an art exhibition that includes the film, installation art and a book release.

When his older brother goes missing, TC and his friend Rotten Robbie embark on a quest to find him that takes the two boys deep into the mysterious world of the Spectrum Hunter cult filled with illusion, puzzles, magic and dangerous adversaries.

Clark has long been the master of bringing the ’80s back with a mixture of fascination, reproduction and reinterpretation with classics such as Baggs: The Movie, the animated Story of Josh and various music videos. With a respectful dedication to video arcade culture, teensploitation movies and assorted ’80s detritus, such as Pogs, Clark’s films go beyond mere nostalgia and transforms his interests into a thoroughly modern universe.

This particular screening of Spectrum Hunter will then be followed by screenings of videos by artists and collaborators Will Erokan, Spencer Longo, Jesse Hulcher, Seve of Body Pressure and others.

Plus, the “Night School 2” event includes the debut of an installation art piece created by Clark in collaboration with Laura Brothers and Spencer Longo that includes DVDs, VHS, laser discs, posters, and trading cards. The installation will be on view at Synchronicity Space until Feb. 2.
