Short Horror Film: Meat Cycle
Meat is murder … and love … in the intensely twisted fairy tale Meat Cycle, an incredibly original vision of horror directed by Joseph Christiana.
Meat Cycle is shot in a highly stylized fashion, creating an alternate, horrific universe filled with disturbing characters engaging in shockingly twisted behavior. It’s a risky decision to pile on so many different visual elements in one film: The glaring lighting, the masked characters, the constant blurring effects. Yet, through all of the jarring distortions, Christiana is still solidly focused on the film’s story, keeping the action grounded in simple, relatable human relationships — even though nobody in the film looks quite human.
