Legendary avant-garde filmmaker Ken Jacobs presents Into the Depths of the Even Greater Depression, a live 3-D cinema performance. Through projector manipulation, painted plastic cells and even objects, Jacobs can concoct swirling abstract images with a three-dimensional depth of field.

Into the Depths is a presentation of Jacobs’ Nervous Magic Lantern process, which utilizes neither film nor video. Jacobs’ says of the experience:  “The viewer of Nervous Magic Lantern phenomena plunges, hovers, sinks and rises into illusionary deep space.”

As this is a live cinema performance, Jacobs will of course be present at the screening. He will also screen his film Disorient Express (1906/1996, 30 min., 35mm, silent).
