Experimental multimedia artist Raymond Salvatore Harmon will be performing a live psychedelic ritual video performance in collaboration with musician Todd Carter.
It’s best if we let Harmon describe the event himself:
DIMINISH represents the border between the real and the unreal. The moment where psychosis devours reason, when thought is replaced by action, the virgin is sacrificed, the blood is spilt.
Auditory and visual landscapes for the subconscious, subliminal viral infection, psychological mutations as brainwave entrainment.
Harmon is a master of layering visual elements to create a completely immersive viewing experience. At the same time, one can perceive the different layers running simultaneously — or at least some of them — while also appreciating the single new environment that is created by their layering.
So, this should be a really trippy event that will draw the audience into the performance with the combination of visuals and sounds provided by RSH and Todd Carter of the experimental electronic improvisation band TV Pow.
There is one word of warning though: As the performance will feature intense strobing and flashing lights, those who are prone to epileptic seizures triggered by light sensitivity are strongly cautioned. Or, if you’re not sure if you have light sensitivity issues, this will be a great way to find out!
Lastly, I’m embedding a sample video by Harmon below. This is NOT representative of what he’ll be performing live at this show, but just to give an idea of what he does for those who are not familiar. Plus, I think this video, called staticerosion, is very pretty.
What you can see in it is the life and death cycle of a flower while the film emulsion that captured it is severely decomposed. There’s also lots more video on his Vimeo page.
