The first ever Oakland Underground Film Festival was such a rousing success back in September, that they’ve already planned this follow-up special event: Two midnight screenings of the cult classic in the making, Black Dynamite.

The film is a loving homage to classic ’70s blaxploitation films like Super Fly, Black Caesar and Willie Dynamite. Michael Jai White stars as Black Dynamite, a hero from the ghetto who’s bold enough to take on “The Man” after his brother is murdered. Black Dynamite has to stop “The Man” from filling orphanages with heroin and flooding the streets with poison malt liquor.

Black Dynamite is the brainchild of writer/producer/star Michael Jai White and directed by Scott Sanders. It was also a massive hit on the 2009 mainstream film festival circuit, including much-talked-about screenings at Sundance and the Los Angeles Film Festival. The film has since gone into limited release, but will not be screening in the Bay Area except for these two special nights on Nov. 20 and 21. Plus, both White and Sanders will be at both screenings for Q&A.
