2006 Lausanne Underground Film Festival: Call For Entries
The first international underground film fest to be listed on the Underground Film Journal hails from the city of Lausanne. That’s in Switzerland for the geographically-challenged — which would be me until I caught wind of this fest.
Most importantly, the Lausanne Underground Film Festival’s entry deadline is fast approaching: May 31. Download more information at their site, which happens to be in French, but the guidelines can be viewed in an English PDF file. And of course the rest of the site can be translated into sloppy English via Babelfish. Always fun to read Babelfish translations…
LUFF will be held at what sounds like three very swanky places. I was excited to read that one location is the Casino de Montbenon, thinking filmgoers could get a couple of Texas Hold ‘Em hands in between screenings. But, turns out “Casino” means “venue for upscale shows” in Lausanne. The other two locations are the L’Arsenic theater and a place called Zinema. Also, the city of Lausanne sits on the shore of Lake Geneva and is the home of the International Olympic Committee. Can this festival sound any swankier?
