Pioneering experimental animator and artist Harry Smith was born under mysterious circumstances today in 1923. While he was born to Robert James and Mary Louise Smith, Harry liked to claim his father was actually Aleister Crowley, whom his mother may or may not have had an affair with.

Smith died on Nov. 26, 1991.
