Go Read: Ed Halter’s Year In Experimental Film

By Mike Everleth ⋅ January 4, 2008

Over in the Village Voice today, they’re bursting with year end wrap-ups and proclamations, but the one you should really go read is Ed Halter‘s Year in Experimental Film article. This isn’t one of those typical hammy year-end lists. Instead, Ed picks out some cool experimental films that he says he missed covering in 2007. It’s a list I’m wholly unfamiliar with, so I’ll write out his picks below, but you really owe it to yourself to read his full commentary. Here’s the list:

1. Play Pause, dir. Sadie Benning
2. Paterson-Lodz, dir. Redmond Entwistle
3. The Cleveland Trilogy and other recent videos, dir. Kevin Jerome Everson
4. La Trinchera Luminosa del Presidente Gonzalo, dir. Jim Finn
5. At Sea, dir. Peter Hutton
6. 50 50 and Message The, dir. Oliver Laric
7. Observando el Cielo, dir. Jeanne Liotta
8. Whispering Pines, dir. Shana Moulton
9. In Memoriam Mark LaPore, dir. Phil Solomon
10. Recent works, dir. Eddo Stern

And I berate you one more time: go read the full article. Also, check out Ed’s main website (wear sunglasses!) and his blog, which is chock full of all kinds of avant-garde goodness.
