First Look: Chris Hansen’s “Endings”

By Mike Everleth ⋅ January 4, 2009

Director Chris Hansen of The Proper Care & Feeding of an American Messiah and Clean Freak fame — and a favorite around these parts — is hard at work editing his second feature, Endings. To get folks excited about the project, he’s posted up a scene from a rough cut of the film, which I’ve embedded above. We have to say: We’re excited.

The clip looks really nice. I recommend watching it full screen as it’s very crisp looking even blown up. And if the above clip is indicative of the rest of the film, this looks like a much more stylized film, at least in terms of the cinematography, than Hansen’s previous efforts. It’s also a foray into serious, dramatic territory after two comedic films. Very impressive looking stuff.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Emmy Ferguson is a 10-year old who learns that, after a long bout with leukemia, today is probably her last day on earth. Chris Ryan is a 35 year old drug addict who is determined to make this his last day. And Adonna Frost, suffering from advanced breast cancer, has made a similar decision about the end of her life.

But as Emmy embarks on a strange journey, the lives of these three strangers are changed forever.

To keep up with Hansen’s progess on the film, check out his blog and the film’s official site.
