In the Better Late Than Never Reporting Dept. (I hope), writer/director Chris Hansen wrote us ages ago to say his first feature, The Proper Care and Feeding of an American Messiah, won the Best Picture Award at the 2006 South Padre Island Film Festival. I think this makes the umpteenth award the film has won. And if you want to get on the American Messiah bandwagon, you can start with my fabulous Underground Film Journal review of the movie.

I also did get to check out the trailer featured on IFC’s Media Lab Shorts Uploaded TV show, which included a handsome profile of the director. There’s still a couple screenings of the show coming up this weekend, if you missed it:
