First prize went to Binding, directed by Katarzyna Plazinska, an MFA Film Production student studying at the University of Iowa. You can watch a clip of the film in the filmmaker’s portfolio reel on Vimeo.

Second prize went to Micro-Celluloid Incidents in 4 Santas, directed by Janis Crystal Lipzin, which features repurposed and manipulated old Kodachrome home movies.

Third prize was split between Living on the Edge, directed by Aaron Zeghers, who also runs Winnipeg-based Cineflyer blog; and Castaway, directed by Isabelle Hayeur, and is a documentary portrait of the “boat cemetery” at Witte’s Marine Salvage at Staten Island, NY.
