2009 WNDX Festival of Film and Video Art: Official Lineup

Once again, Winnipeg’s WNDX Festival of Film and Video Art presents an awesome celebration of Canadian avant-garde, experimental and underground cinema, which will run this year on Oct. 7-11. There are retrospectives of celebrated Canadian film artists, eclectic programs of short films, workshops, panel discussions, parties and more.
Below is the lineup for all the films screening at WNDX this year, but there’s also a lot more going on, so be sure to check out their official site for full info. There will be a panel discussion on indie film distribution, a workshop on the “Jawa Editing Technique, a lecture by Philip Hoffman on making “diary cinema” and more.
WNDX is also presenting a retrospective of the films of Philip Hoffman, the experimental documentary filmmaker, which will include one-night of some short works and a screening of his feature-length All Fall Down. There will also be a one-night retrospective of experimental filmmaker John Price. Plus, there will be a live video performance by artists Tasman Richardson and RKO; a special night of Canadian Chilean films; and, of course, the annual closing-night One-Take Super 8 Event.
I can’t recommend anything specific to see — although all of it sounds like fun — but I am glad to see that Leslie Supnet, whose work I love, has two films screening this year. Lots to see and lots to do. Here’s what’s to see:
