Continuing my weekly epic of “call for entries” posts I’m pulling out the one festival that doesn’t actually have “underground” in it’s name. Plus, since I totally missed the New York Underground Film Festival deadlines because I’m a lame-ass, I figure NYC needs to be represented somehow. So, let’s scoot on over to Brooklyn for the 8th annual Coney Island Film Festival.

Held once again at the historic Sideshows by the Seashore and the Coney Island Museum, the festival will run Sept. 26-28. But they’re already looking for early bird entries and you still have a few days to get your submission postmarked. Your film doesn’t have to be about or be shot in NYC, but I’m sure that doesn’t hurt. Here’s the actual deadlines:

Early Bird Deadline:
January 18th

Fee: $25

Regular Deadline:
April 25th

Fee: $30

Late Deadline:
June 25th

Fee: $35

Extended Late Deadline:
July 3rd

Fee: $45

For full submission guidelines, please visit the official Coney Island Film Festival website. And if you want to see all of last year’s hijinx and get a taste of what you’ll be in for if you submit and attend the fest, check out this extensive photo gallery, from which I pulled that lady deep throating a snake. But there’s also pictures of a guy hammering a nail up his nose, another dude putting a rat trap on his tongue and a naked female clown with a couple of suggestively positioned pies.
