2007 Melbourne Underground Film Festival: Dates Announced & More

By Mike Everleth ⋅ July 5, 2007

The most notorious fest Down Under, the Melbourne Underground Film Festival has finally announced this year’s dates: Sept. 20 to 30, 2007, an epic length for an epic showcase of outrageous films. If you still want to submit your film, you still can up until July 24. More info about submitting can be found here. Anyway, mark your calendars (mine’s over there on the right).

In other news, MUFF Festival Director Richard Wolstencroft has finished up principle photography on his latest feature film, titled The Beautiful and Damned, which is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel. Will it be done in time for his own festival? We’ll see…

And if you want to watch something from Wolstencroft right this very second, scan your eyes below to the embedded music video he directed for Pankow’s “Deny Everything.” I’ve never heard of the band before, but it’s good old-fashioned industrial rock (one of my favorite genres). Great song and the video has actually been banned from screening on MTV Europe, probably due to it’s terrorist subject matter. It’s a fun video. And while I’ve never met Richard myself, if I’m not mistaken, he’s given himself a lead role in it.

Finally, if you want to work as a part of MUFF, they’re looking for a graphic designer and volunteers to work the fest. If you want to apply, go to the MUFF site, click on “Press Release 2,” then scan down for the proper info.

Here’s the video:
