Movie Review: 2000 NYUFF: Preview, Part 1
As expected, I can’t get any of my rat bastid friends to go with me. The real punch in the stomach this time though is that no one has even bothered returning my email. The 2000 New York Underground Film Festival starts tomorrow.
During my lunch break today, I did a dry run to the theater. I could probably hoof it all the way there everyday, but I think I’ll go one stop on the F train. I figure it takes me about 15 minutes. I just hope there aren’t huge lines when I get there actually during the festival.
I spent the last couple of minutes tonight highlighting the official New York Underground Film Festival‘s calendar for the movies I want to see. It’s an insane schedule. If I end up doing what I want, I’m going to see about four films (or collections of shorts) per day, maybe more on the weekends. A major X-factor in the equation is Saturday which is my friend Becky’s birthday. I’m sure I’ll want to spend part of the day with her (and Jessie and Jerry if they come down for it).
I’m confident about the dry run this afternoon. Glad I work so close so that won’t be much of a problem. I’m just terrified of there being long lines. This is NYC. There’s usually big crowds for every event I go to.
I pretty much figured I’d end up going all alone, too. I’m still pretty jazzed about the whole thing regardless. I don’t know. Maybe I have leprosy and I don’t see it and nobody wants to point it out to me.
