Movie Review: 2000 NYUFF: Preview, Part 2

By Mike Everleth ⋅ March 8, 2000

Ended up buying tickets for the opening night film of the 2000 New York Underground Film Festival with one of my co-workers during our lunch break. It was cool. There was only about 10 people in line besides us. Hopefully, the rest of the week will be as easy as well.

Right now, I’m here over an hour early for the opening night film: A documentary Born to Lose about punk rock legend Johnny Thunders. I don’t know anything about him, really. Film should be interesting. It’s also preceded by a short: Monkey vs. Robot. I decided to come tonight by myself and didn’t ask my co-worker when he was coming even though I bought tickets with him. The major reason is cause I knew I wanted time to write something like this. Maybe I’ll run into him later.

Maybe I’ll buy a T-shirt.

I brought a little stack of Underground Film Journal stickers with plans to give them to people. Don’t know if I will. Probably not. There’re a couple of tables I could leave them on maybe, but who knows if festival workers might scoop them up because they’re not festival related.
