Movie Review: 2000 NYUFF: Day 2, Part 2

By Mike Everleth ⋅ March 9, 2000

Dang 5:45 PM movie got canceled. I ran out of a mini-meeting at work to make it in time. No one needs to call a meeting after 5 PM anyway, but that’s not important.

So, I came up to St. Mark’s Place to grab a falafel and a few drinks at the Holiday Cocktail Lounge. Stephan, the drunk bartender, is in rare form tonight. Serenading the girl sitting next to me with Sinatra tunes. Well, I think they’re supposed to be Sinatra songs. Then he yelled at me when I whipped out my notebook. He thought I was a newspaper reporter writing a piece about the bar. The Holiday was in The Daily News as Best Dive Bar in NYC two weeks ago. There’s no ice in my rum & coke.

The movie I missed was Black & Gold: The Latin King and Queen Nation about some NY street gang. Sounded pretty cool. I gotta get back to my next movie in a minute.
