2008 Mono No Aware: Call For Entries
This is an interesting Call for Entries that crossed my inbox recently. Mono No Aware is not a film festival, as they say on their website. It is a film performance festival that will run on Nov. 30 at 6:00 p.m. Deadline for submitting is:
Furthermore, no digital work will be accepted! (Except as preview material.) They only want submissions on actual film, Super 8 or 16mm please. (People still use film?) Plus, since accepted entries will be performing live, the submission form asks for all kinds of crazy detail of what that performance will look like.
Here’s their official call:
MONO NO AWARE is not a film festival; its focus is the cinematic experience. Inspired by the unique qualities of live performance and viewing film prints, it encourages live music, theatrical performance, audio and additional visuals to accompany the film piece.
MONO NO AWARE is open to experimental filmmakers, fine artists, poets and musicians; to any and all persons working or interested in making work using the film medium. Entries on Super8 or 16mm film only; no digital video submissions will be accepted.
