2008 Hi Mom! Film Festival: Official Lineup

I think I rather stupidly skipped over listing the Hi Mom! Film Festival last year, but I’m glad to have it back in regular rotation here, and which I can now keep track of on the Underground Film Journal’s handy-dandy festivals list. This year’s edition is going to run this weekend, Sept 5-6, and I have the full lineup below.

This is actually one of my favorite festivals to list because it’s a two-day, jam-packed  shorts-only festival. This year they’re screening 51 terrific short films. The opening night event is going to be an outdoors affair in Chapel Hill, NC, with the rest of the screenings taking place indoors at The Arts Center in Carrboro. (I was in Chapel Hill once and thought it was very nice.) Also, if you want to attend all 4 screening blocks, it’ll only cost you 10 bucks, which is an incredible deal.

The only film I’m familiar with here is T. Arthur Cottam‘s Filthy Food, which I’ve only seen the trailer for. Although, judging by the outrageous trailer, the full film should be real hoot. That’s screening during the Friday late-night block, which is fitting. But also of special note is Bill Plympton‘s Shut-Eye Hotel screening during Saturday’s second session.

Hi Mom! always sounds like a blast and there’s also a Saturday night after-party in Chapel Hill. You can get all your info at the Hi Mom! official website, but here’s the lineup of films:
